Deciding who should or should not have a child is not the role of a physician, according to an expert speaking at the (ACOG) 2017 Annual Meeting. "The real goal is to empower women, not to reduce pregnancy. If someone wants to have children in their teens, you can't tell them not to. We really have to reframe the conversation," stressed Neha Bhardwaj, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in her presentation on contraception and coercion. "You can't think of teen pregnancy as a disease."
