Mount Sinai will serve as the official medical provider for the US Open Tennis Championships. This is the fifth consecutive year the health system has been named the official medical provider. Alexis Chiang Colvin, MD, associate professor of sports medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and team physician for the US Fed Cup team, will lead care as chief medical officer of the United States Tennis Association. For the third year, Mount Sinai’s department of radiology will offer diagnostic ultrasound examinations to athletes and evaluate injuries. Carlos Benitez, MD, assistant professor of radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will lead this effort. Dr. Benitez and his team will be able to triage patients at the point of care with an ultrasound machine. His team can perform ultrasound-guided joint treatments at the stadium. Mount Sinai will also have a Picture Archiving and Communication System workstation to monitor athletes’ MRI scans in real time.
