About Me

Wasilah Suleiman, MD, is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is board certified in internal medicine and her clinical focus is to provide primary care to the culturally and socioeconomically diverse patient population that Mount Sinai Queens serves. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, cancer screening and the treatment and management of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and elevated lipid and cholesterol levels. Her additional clinical interests include obesity management and smoking cessation. Dr. Suleiman received her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated Magna cum Laude and was honored with an academic excellence award. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University District Hospital and the Puerto Rico Medical Center.

Dr. Suleiman finds the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions rewarding and she values the long term relationships she forms with her patients. Her goal is to help her patients achieve better health and to help them maintain it. Drawing upon her own culturally diverse background, Dr. Suleiman has formed a connection to the community she serves. She feels that her understanding of how different cultures approach health and healing will translate into improved outcomes for her patients.
