Biography

    Taraneh Shirazian, M.D. is a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  She received her M.D. degree, through the accelerated medical program (PLME) at Brown University.  She is a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon. Her clinical areas of interest include uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal pap smears and uterine prolapse.  She iscertified to perform saline sonograms for the evaluation of polyps and fibroids, Colposcopies, LEEP procedures, ESSURE ( in office non-surgical tubaligation) and NOVASURE ( in office endometrial ablation).

     

    As the Director of the Global Health Program at Mount Sinai, Dr. Shirazian collaborates with physicians on an international level, and treats patients world wide.  As a leader in Women's Health, she has been responsible for creating resident and medical student educational opportunities in Global Health.  Her students know that Dr. Shirazian is a strong patient advocate and believes in educating her patients so that they can make informed decisions about their health care.

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
