Soriaya Motivala, MD, is a neurosurgeon based at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Manhattan with office hours at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, and Mount Sinai Brooklyn Heights. An assistant professor in neurosurgery, she practices general brain and general spine surgery, treating all neurosurgical conditions.
Dr. Motivala is a graduate of McGill University, Canada, where she obtained a degree in Cell Biology and graduated with great distinction. She obtained her MD at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where she was the elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors medical society. Dr. Motivala completed an internship in General Surgery followed by a residency in Neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Motivala’s clinical focus is on general cranial and spinal neurosurgery, back pain, and minimally invasive spinal decompression and fusion techniques for degenerative, scoliotic, traumatic and neoplastic spinal disorders.
Dr. Motivala partners with patients to identify their specific goals for treatment, and believes back pain recovery requires a holistic approach. She collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team pain management specialists, rehabilitation medicine experts, to offer individualized treatment plans and ensure the highest quality of care.
Dr. Motivala has authored numerous original publications and several book chapters on a variety of topics in neurosurgery. Dr. Motivala is also fluent in French.
