Shanna Kowalsky, DO
About Me
Shanna Kowalsky, DO, is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Divisions of Newborn Medicine and Infectious Diseases in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. She is also an Associate Pediatric Hospital Epidemiologist. She began her undergraduate education at Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in cellular and molecular biology. She received her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and went on to complete her Pediatrics residency at Miami Children’s Hospital in Florida. In 2013, she completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) and is currently a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician and Pediatric Associate Hospital Epidemiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Kowalsky focuses much of her time on infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship. She is dedicated to caring for children with common pediatric infections, as well as those with complicated or unusual infections, including immunocompromised children, children receiving organ transplantation, and children with travel associated infections. Her research interests focus on the treatment of congenital CMV infection.
