Biography

    Dr. Roayaie's areas of interest are adult liver transplantation including cadaver and living donor; and hepatobiliary surgery involving resection of tumors of the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas.

    Dr. Roayaie earned his M.D. from the New Jersey Medical School. He was a member of the house staff at The Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Surgery before completing his Multiorgan Transplant fellowship here at RMTI. Among his many honors are the NIH K-30 Clinical Investigator Training Award in 2001; the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society, member since 1993; and the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society, member since 1989. He also participated as a volunteer surgeon in Doctors Without Borders on an African Medical Mission to Transkei, South Africa. Dr. Roayaie is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Roayaie's research activities are focused on the results of transplantation and liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma; the prevention of recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma after resection and transplant; and the results of transplant and re-transplant for hepatitis C.
