Biography
- Dr. Haber performs in-office neck ultrasonography for the diagnosis of thyroid and parathyroid disease, and for surveillance for recurrent disease in thyroid cancer patients. He has performed over 6,000 such examinations, and has directed courses in thyroid ultrasonography sponsored by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Ultrasonography is of great value in the evaluation and management of patients with thyroid disease, especially thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, and is used to guide fine-needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid nodules. It also makes possible pre-operative imaging of enlarged parathyroid glands in many patients with hyperparathyroidism.
Dr. Haber directs the Bone Densitometry Program at Mount Sinai.
Research
Research
Recent clinical research by Dr. Haber includes a study on the accuracy of fine needle aspiration biopsy for the diagnosis of thyroid nodules, and a study on the utility of neck ultrasonography for the pre-operative localization of enlarged parathyroid glands in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. Current research is focussed on the utility of neck ultrasonography and other imaging methods for the detection of recurrent thyroid cancer.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
Below are financial relationships with industry reported by Dr. Haber during 2011 and/or 2012. Please note that this information may differ from information posted on corporate sites due to timing or classification differences.
Other Activities: Examples include participation on a Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) or other committees
- ImpactRX (Target RX)
Mount Sinai's faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website at http://www.mssm.edu/about-us/services-and-resources/faculty-resources/handbooks-and-policies/faculty-handbook.
