Dr. Ramon Murphy is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine. He also serves as Vice Chair of Voluntary Affairs for the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics. He began his work at Mount Sinai working in East Harlem at the Wagner Child Health Project as Co-Director. Concurrently, he worked as an attending and teacher at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Center for 19 years. He started working in private practice in 1976 and developed Uptown Pediatrics, an eight doctor teaching practice that serves the community that uses Mount Sinai. There are four Mount Sinai Pediatric residents that are an integral part of the practice. Dr. Murphy is Director of the Off-Site Pediatric Residency Program and works and teaches there and at Mount Sinai.

In 2005, Dr Murphy, with the aid of philanthropy and talented faculty from the medical school, founded the Mount Sinai Global Health Program. After 10 years it has evolved into the Arnhold Global Health Institute at Mount Sinai. The Institute trains MPH and Medical students, residents and faculty in the care of underserved populations here and abroad and does research in innovative ways of advancing the care of the undeserved.
