Biography

    Dr. Hopperstad is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with experience treating psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. He has particular interest in the treatment of OCD, anxiety and mood disorders, and ADHD. In addition to his role as Medical Director of the Mount Sinai OCD Center, he is the Unit Chief of an adult inpatient psychiatry unit at Mount Sinai.

    He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Washington where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and was inducted in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He later attended the Post Baccalaureate premedical program at Columbia University. While studying at Columbia, Dr. Hopperstad was a researcher in the Department of Neuroscience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and published in the area of membrane channel biophysics.

    He earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he was awarded the Kaufman Prize for Excellence in Psychiatry and was inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Society for Humanism in Medicine. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at Mount Sinai. He completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at The NYU Child Study Center, and remains on faculty there as Adjunct Assistant Professor.
