Madelynn Azar-Cavanagh, MD, MPH, FACOEM serves as the Medical Director of Employee Health, Safety and Wellness for the Mount Sinai Health System as well as the Medical Director of the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Azar-Cavanagh is a highly acclaimed physician who brings an interdisciplinary approach to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses.
She joins the Mount Sinai team from the University of California in San Diego where she led Employee Health and Wellness for both the UC San Diego Health System and the UC San Diego Campus.
Dr. Azar-Cavanagh was named as one of San Diego Magazine’s Top Doctors in Occupational Medicine in 2004 & 2005 and “America’s Top Physicians” 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013 in Occupational Medicine. She also received the “2010 Integrity in Workers’ Comp Award” for California Physicians.
A recognized leader in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Dr. Azar-Cavanagh will be a key advocate for the significant enrichment of workplace safety and employee wellness initiatives organization wide. To this end, she will collaborate with organizational leadership, Mount Sinai’s vast clinical resources and others to develop a framework for “Best Practices” that improves the overall coordinated health, safety and wellness of faculty and staff.
