Dr. Feldstein’s training background at the NCI and 15 year experience at MSK, interests, activities and energies have focused in providing timely, accurate and contemporary diagnoses of hematologic malignancies, integrating clinical, morphologic, immunophenotypic, molecular and cytogenetic data.  Dr. Feldstein is a board certified pathologist and provides diagnostic expertise on hematologic malignancies such as lymphoma, leukemia, myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative and plasma cell neoplasms, to clinical colleagues and patients.  She actively participates in all diagnostic and academic aspects of the Department of Pathology; collaborates with clinical colleagues investigating diagnostic and clinical prognostic biomarkers in hematologic malignancies; identifies novel molecular markers from murine models and confirms expression in human tumor samples and clinical correlation for potential experimental therapeutic targets. At MSK, she directed the Clinical Immunohistochemistry Laboratory, wrote, created and developed the Hematopathology Fellowship Training Program which achieved a 10 year ACGME accreditation in 2013, directed and coordinated the Hematopathology Service, and supported antibody biomarker characterization in tissues and specimens for clinical trials in a CLIA setting.  She actively teaches medical students, residents, clinical and research fellows locally, nationally and internationally, significantly impacting outreach of her research, teaching and clinical activities in the area of hematopathology and hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Feldstein’s research focuses on hematologic malignancies, with studies designed to improve treatments for patients using targeted therapies and hematopoietic transplantation.  She is an active member in the Clinical Research Program, serving as an investigator on nearly 80 clinical trials and protocols as the reference expert hematopathologist.  She participated on the Institutional Therapeutic Response Review Committee, and served on the Institutional Review Board for five years.  Research collaborations span the local NY, national and international levels including: Columbia, Albert Einstein, Cornell NYP, Cold Spring Harbor, Mount Sinai, Beth Israel  and Brigham & Women’s, Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas TX, MD Anderson, Canada, and Spain.  

Dr. Feldstein serves as reviewer of numerous journals and grants, Editorial Board member of Lymphoma, as well as Hematology and Leukemia, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of OncoPathology. She and collaborators have nearly 170 peer reviewed published studies with a strong publication record in high impact journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, and Blood.  Some of these studies have resulted and impacted on biological science and industry leading to novel drug development and clinical trials indicating a strong local, national and international impact and significance of her research and clinical activities. Dr. Feldstein will continue her current research direction and planned role at the Mount Sinai Health System and Icahn School of Medicine with scientific and clinical colleagues in the areas of hematologic malignancies, transplantation, immunology, experimental and molecular pathology, molecular pharmacology, cancer biology and genetics and human pathogenesis.
