Dr. Arend received his undergraduate degree from the University of Puget Sound and his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his residency training in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Residency Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Since 2011, Dr. Arend has been a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, with the rank of Assistant Professor of Medicine. His teaching interests focus on healthcare delivery and quality improvement. Dr. Arend practices primary care at Internal Medicine Associates, where he serves as the Assistant Medical Director for Clinical Operations and Clinical Quality.
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
