Summary of Research Studies:
Research in my laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanisms of neural circuits in human brain underlying cognitive functions in normal and patient populations, with a focus on voluntary control. We use multi-modal neuroimaging of event related functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) for functional activity, structural MRI (mMRI) for morphometric differences, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) for structural connectivity among brain areas, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) for quantifying of endogenous neurochemistry, and event related potentials (ERP) for the time course of information transmission between brain networks.
