About Me

Hilary Hotchkiss, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension and is the Pediatric Medical Director of Dialysis at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.

Dr. Hotchkiss received her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania.  She continued her studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency training at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx.  Dr. Hotchkiss first came to Mount Sinai for her fellowship training in Pediatric Nephrology.  She then spent several years at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where she continued to develop her career and clinical interests.  She returned to Mount Sinai as a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension in 2009, where she has remained since.

Dr. Hotchkiss’s clinical practice includes the entire range of kidney diseases that can occur in children.  Examples include polycystic kidney disease, renal dysplasia, hemolytic uremic syndrome, vesicoureteral reflux, acute and chronic glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, kidney stone disease and tubular disorders.  Dr. Hotchkiss’s practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of elevated blood pressure in children, often with the use of ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring.   Her clinical practice includes the care of patients that require dialysis and/or kidney transplant.  She makes every effort to advocate for children to receive a kidney transplant without the need for dialysis whenever possible.

Dr. Hotchkiss has always been involved in the education of medical students and pediatric residents.  She has a particular interest in teaching students and trainees the complexities of caring for children with chronic illness.
