Dr. Ebby Elahi is the Director of Fifth Avenue Eye Associates and FACES™, a state of the art ophthalmic and oculofacial practice located across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Global Health at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. A board certified surgeon, Dr. Elahi is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.

After beginning his medical education at Université Louis Pasteur in France, Dr. Elahi relocated to New York, where he completed his undergraduate studies and earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then completed his specialty training in Ophthalmology at the Mount Sinai-NYU Medical Center, serving as chief resident. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Oculofacial Surgery, training at Mount Sinai and the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Infirmary. For several years, he served as Director of Eye Care Services at Mount Sinai Medical Center prior to assuming leadership of Fifth Avenue Eye Associates and FACES™.  Dr. Elahi has also served as co-director of Mount Sinai’s Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program.

Dr. Elahi’s extensive clinical experience ranges from surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures to complex conditions involving eyelids, the orbit and the lacrimal system.  His special interests lie in the correction of age-related facial, orbital and eyelid changes, advanced surgical management of eyelid and orbital malignancies, and treatment of thyroid-related eye disease. Dr. Elahi adopts an artistic approach to non-surgical aesthetic procedures including botulinum toxin, fillers, skin tightening and a variety of laser and light treatments to improve skin tone and texture.   His success with thousands of procedures stems from combining safety and skill with a strong commitment to achieving a natural and customized result for each individual.  He derives deep satisfaction in knowing that patients whocome to him eventually depart with renewed confidence and self-esteem.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Elahi is actively involved in research and education, frequently lecturing nationally and abroad. He is widely published in peer reviewed and medical journals and has contributed to several internationally-referenced textbooks. Dr. Elahi’s innovative approach to orbital repair and enhancement has resulted in a U.S. patent. An inducted member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Dr. Elahi is also the recipient of several prestigious teaching awards, including Mount Sinai’s Abraham Kornzweig Award for Excellence in Resident Education.

For the past twenty years, Dr. Elahi has been actively involved in issues surrounding global health. While in medical school, he founded the Mount Sinai International Health Society to promote student engagement in global health. Currently he is Director of Global Health at the Virtue Foundation, an NGO in special consultative status to the United Nations, as well as a faculty member at Mount Sinai’s Department of Preventative Medicine and Global Health. In this capacity, he has led multiple medical missions to various regions around the world, including Mongolia, Liberia, Burundi, Cambodia, Tonga, and El Salvador. Dr. Elahi also serves on the steering committee of Cornell University’s Avon Center for Women and Justice.

Consistently recognized as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists,” “Best Doctors,” and “Super Docs,” Dr Elahi has been featured in various media, including The New York Times, ABC, CBS, and NY1. In addition to his practice’s onsite AAAASF certified surgical facility, Dr. Elahi also holds surgical privileges at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center, Elmhurst General Hospital, and the Fifth Avenue Surgery Center. Beyond his professional interests, Dr. Elahi is an avid musician and enjoys the arts, travel, and philosophy.
