Biography

    Dr. Tennyson is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. She is an expert in the treatment of celiac disease.

    Prior to joining the Mount Sinai Doctors-Brooklyn Heights Medical Group in May 2013, Dr. Tennyson was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2008. She worked at the Columbia University Celiac Disease Center and was involved in patient care, clinical research, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

    In addition to celiac disease, Dr. Tennyson’s other areas of expertise include colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, diarrhea, nutrition, malabsorption, small bowel diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and capsule endoscopy. She is certified by the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists.

    She received her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and performed both internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.   Dr. Tennyson completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

    Dr. Tennyson’s professional memberships include the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Society, the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the North American Society for the Study of Celiac Disease.   She has co-authored numerous articles and chapters in the field of Gastroenterology and has presented research at both national and international conferences.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
