About Me
Dr. Beth Raucher is an Infectious Disease physician and Professor in the Department of Medicine. She joined Mount Sinai in September, 2014 as Vice Chair for Quality & Clinical Affairs for the Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr. Raucher received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she also completed her Internal Medicine residency training. She then completed a fellowship in Clinical Microbiology and Public Health at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed a second fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and then joined the Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, where she served as an Infectious Diseases Physician, Director of Infection Control, and Associate Medical Director of Quality and Clinical Informatics. Subsequently, she became Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn where she championed several clinical quality initiatives, had oversight responsibility for graduate and undergraduate medical education, helped to deploy the electronic medical record and worked closely with the medical staff to adopt clinical guidelines and best practices. In addition to her medical degree, in 2002 she received a Master’s Degree in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.
As Vice Chair for Quality & Clinical Affairs, Dr. Raucher engages faculty, residents, and students in quality and patient safety initiatives in the Department of Medicine across the health system. She works closely with the leadership at each hospital, reviewing quality metrics and physician performance, as well as representing the department on quality and patient safety committees and initiatives. As the Physician Champion, she is actively engaged in improving sepsis recognition and management at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Since 2012, she has been a member of the NYSDOH Sepsis Advisory Board.
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Raucher has served as a chair and member of numerous committees for the GNYHA, HANYS, and the New York State Department of Health. She has served on the faculty of the GNYHA/UHF sponsored Clinical Quality Fellowship Program, since its establishment in 2004 and has mentored many of the fellows in the program.
