Alyssa Gillego, MD is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon specializing in benign and malignant surgery of the breast. Following general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center, she completed a breast surgical fellowship at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel. Dr. Gillego specializes in the treatment of breast cancer. She has expertise in breast biopsies, breast conserving surgery, lymph node biopsies, and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She also performs prophylyactic mastectomy for high risk patients. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, she has presented at national meetings, and has published in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Gillego is a member of the American Society for Breast Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
