Our Services
Individual psychopharmacology
Individual members of our interdisciplinary team conduct visits with oversight by attending physicians who specialize in psychiatric care for older adults. Additionally we offer supportive psychotherapy and evidence based psychopharmacology services.
Group Therapy
We offer therapy groups in both English and Spanish for patients suffering from depression or anxiety. We also provide support groups for individuals with newly diagnosed memory disorders and for their caregivers. We run some of our caregiver support groups in conjunction with staff and patients from the Martha Stewart Center for Living and the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
Neuropsychological testing
We conduct comprehensive neuropsychological testing to evaluate patients for dementia, attention disorders, or any cognitive problems. For more information, or to arrange for testing, call 212-241-8518.
Research
Opportunities to participate in research abound in the Mount Sinai Department of Psychiatry. The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry is closely allied with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, where researchers study memory problems, such as Alzheimer’s disease, and the Brain Stimulation Center of Excellence, where researchers investigate the treatment of psychiatric disorders with electroconvulsive therapy and deep brain stimulation.
Educational Workshops
We encourage older adults and their caregivers who are interested in learning more about their disease process and other aspects of health aging to attend our educational workshops. We run these workshops in conjunction with staff and patients from the Martha Stewart Center for Living and the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
