When you are confronting a serious illness, you need answers, symptom relief, expertise, and support. Our specialist team of doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplain, doulas (volunteer companions), and massage and yoga therapists help patients with advanced illnesses and their families make informed decisions regarding their health care when curative measures are no longer effective. Our goals are to relieve suffering and attain optimum quality of life for our patients.
Working closely with your primary doctor, we provide coordinated care consisting of:
- Pain management
- 24-hour availability
- Mount Sinai Visiting Doctor home care and referral

- Social services support
- Physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and emotional support
- In-depth discussion with patients about their condition and their treatment options
To receive help from our palliative care team, please ask your doctor for a referral. We are available to assist you or your loved one in the hospital or at home. Our hospital services, inpatient unit and outpatient programs are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and many insurance plans. Call us at 212-241-1446 if you have questions about your insurance coverage.
