Treatment Services

Has your breathing changed and not returned to normal? Has your throat been sore for a long time? These or other changes in your health may be due to your work as a 9/11 responder. If so, confidential treatment for 9/11-related illnesses is available through the WTC Health Program at no cost to you.

There are no co-pays or deductibles to receive treatment for covered 9/11-related illnesses, and no insurance is required.

Some common signs of possible 9/11-related illness:

  • Anxiety or depression
  • Constant cough
  • Constant stuffy or runny nose
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Excessive snoring
  • Heartburn
  • Hoarse voice or sore throat
  • Problems sleeping

What conditions may be treated? Over two dozen WTC-related conditions are covered. See full list. Some examples are:

  • Asthma
  • Breathing and airway disorders
  • Certain cancers
  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Sinus disorders

Treatment services may include:

  • Benefits counseling
  • CT scans
  • Doctors visits and follow-up visits
  • Full pulmonary function testing
  • Medication
  • Mental health counseling
  • Methacholine Challenge Test for Asthma
  • X-rays
