Overview

Radiation Oncology at Mount Sinai is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care to our patients, while performing innovative research that will improve cancer therapy. Our department comprises of outstanding physicians, nurses, physicists, radiation therapists and support staff whom work together to provide the most compassionate and advanced cancer care possible – one patient at a time.

Our professionals have access to the highest level of technology including intensity modulated radiation therapy, Novalis shaped beam radiosurgery, real-time ultrasound guided prostate seed implants and Mammosite that allow us to meticulously target the tumor, while achieving maximal sparing of normal tissues.

Radiation therapy is one of the most effective treatments currently available to fight cancer. It can be used in three general settings:

  • as the only treatment to cure cancer
  • in combination with surgery, chemotherapy and/or hormonal therapy to cure cancer
  • to relieve symptoms associated with cancer

We are the only site in New York City and only one of four in New York state using Novalis shaped beam radiosurgery.
