About the Dubin Breast Center Building

The multidisciplinary, patient-friendly philosophy of the Dubin Breast Center of The Tisch Cancer Institute extends to the design of its building, created by the architecture firm WASA / Studio A. The modern two-story Center has entrances on both Fifth Avenue and the main plaza of the Mount Sinai campus. The Center offers integrated oncology, radiology, surgery, and infusion services in a calm environment, thanks to an interior finished with wood furnishings and soft lighting. It is a place where patients and families can find a nurturing setting in which to make informed decisions.

The design of the Dubin Breast Center was largely determined by holding focus groups for patients, nurses, pharmacy staff, and physicians. “Right from the beginning of our discussions about the Dubin Breast Center,” said lead architect Leonard Franco, “we were charged with creating a tranquil atmosphere and Eva Dubin [the lead donor after whom the Center has been named] has been instrumental in our keeping that focus, even as we bring state-of-the-art medical capabilities to the Dubin Breast Center.”

By providing so many services under one roof, the center offers convenient and centrally coordinated care – and the warm, comfortable atmosphere will further alleviate stress. Added Franco, “We are proud to be connected with the Dubin Breast Center and to design the physical manifestation of what we believe will be a new standard in integrated cancer care.”
