Mount Sinai has been a leader in providing outstanding kidney disease care for more than 60 years. In fact, the first hemodialysis (life-sustaining treatment for people whose kidneys have stopped working) in the United States was performed at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1947. Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s top hospitals for kidney care, we continue to offer the latest dialysis therapies and technologies combined with a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach.

For adults and children needing dialysis on an outpatient basis—whether they live in New York or are just visiting—we provide a variety of dialysis options, in addition to easy access to Mount Sinai’s full range of services should they need them. This includes hypertension and diabetes management programs and transplant surgery, among many others. The Kidney Center’s multidisciplinary care team is comprised of highly skilled physicians, nurses, social workers, vascular access coordinators and dietitians. A full biomedical and technical staff is onsite at all times. We strive to accommodate our patients’ lifestyles with flexible scheduling, extended hours, a multilingual staff and conveniences such as free Wi-Fi and TV’s at every dialysis station. In addition to welcoming patients from other countries, we also can coordinate dialysis care if you are traveling out of town. Our outpatient dialysis options include:

  • 94th Street Hemodialysis Center, a bright, spacious hemodialysis unit for adults that has 24 stations providing treatment Monday through Saturday and extended hours.
  • B1 Treatment Center, an adult and pediatric inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis unit with 12 stations providing treatment Monday through Saturday. A care provider is on-call 7 days a week, 24-hours/day throughout the year.
  • Home Peritoneal Dialysis Program, a service that equips, educates, and monitors patients who are able to perform peritoneal dialysis at home.
  • Transient Dialysis Program, a service providing international travelers and other visitors to New York with convenient therapy. We also make dialysis travel arrangements for Mount Sinai dialysis patients.
