Mount Sinai Department of Dentistry
The Mount Sinai Department of Dentistry is dedicated to providing affordable general, specialty, and emergency dental services to New Yorkers of all ages. We seek to provide a “dental home” for our patients – a friendly, comfortable place where our patients can come for preventative oral health services and ongoing, convenient dental care
As part of one of the nation’s top teaching and research hospitals, we have an internationally recognized staff of dental and medical professionals, including professors of dental medicine, more than 100 voluntary attending dentists, educators and researchers, and dental residents who are nearing completion of a highly demanding curriculum at Mount Sinai. (When residents treat patients they always do so under the close supervision of experienced dentists.)
We offer a full array of state-of-the-art dental and oral health services. These services range from routine exams and cleanings through every phase of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, from filling cavities and performing root canals, to treating gum disease, fixing chipped teeth, and, where needed, placing dental implants. We also provide orthodontic services (the treatment of dental and facial irregularities) and jaw surgery.
Our Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Program, which deals with conditions that cause pain in the jaw and the muscles surrounding it, is internationally acclaimed. Though we generally see patients on a scheduled basis, we are well equipped to deal with dental emergencies as they arise. For patients with complex health care needs, our staff is able to consult with and easily coordinate services with experts in multiple medical specialties at Mount Sinai to assure a program of coordinated care focused on the individual patient.
