What to Expect From My Visit
Your care and comfort is of critical importance to us and we will do everything we can to make your experience at our center a positive one. Before you see your doctor, we have a few things to keep in mind.
Appointments/Delays: Please know that we value your time as much as ours. We will do what we can to inform you of any unavoidable delays on our end. In return, please let us know if you are running late. It happens to all of us – a stuck train, a late babysitter or traffic. If you tell us you’re delayed, we will do our best to adjust our schedule or find another time for your appointment.
Medical Records: If you have pertinent medical records from other physicians, or test or imaging results from another facility, please send them and confirm that we’ve received them prior to your appointment.
Medications: Before your visit to Mount Sinai, please make an up-to-date list of all the medications you are currently taking. Even though we have an electronic medical record that keeps track of the medications you’re on, it’s best to bring a list to make sure nothing is omitted.
Follow-up: At the end of your appointment, we will give you a personalized and complete treatment plan, including referral appointments, any further needed tests and how to get those test results. At Mount Sinai we have a patient portal called MyChart which allows for secure, easy access to your medical records, including test results and prescription refill requests as well as a way to email your physician. If you do not already have a MyChart account, please ask the front desk associates for an access code when you check in.
Insurance: The Feinstein IBD Center accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare. Since only a few of the new insurance exchange plans provide full coverage for your services at the center, we encourage your to check with your insurance company before your appointment. If you have any questions, we have a billing/insurance associate at the center who can assist you.
