OB-GYN social workers have expertise in various aspects of women’s reproductive health and offer specialty programming in a variety of clinical areas including:

  • Bereavement and loss
  • Adjustment to new parenthood
  • Teen pregnancy and parenting
  • Young fathers
  • Family planning and pregnancy options
  • Pregnancy and chronic illness
  • HIV/STD prevention and treatment
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance use

In addition, through a specialized AIDS Institute grant funded program, social workers offer onsite HIV counseling, testing, and education to pregnant women and women of reproductive age registered at Mount Sinai. Partner counseling and testing is also available. In addition, a specialized support program, Woman to Woman, led by a social worker, provides peer to peer support to women with gynecological cancers both on an in-patient and ambulatory basis. Family services are also available through this grant funded program.
