RESEARCH LABORATORY MANAGER

The Lab Manager is responsible for maintaining general operations of the Vaccine and Cell Therapy Laboratory in compliance with regulatory/quality requirements (i.e. FDA, ISO, GCP, GLP & cGMP).
PRINCICIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare cell-based immunotherapies, virus-vector, and peptide/adjuvant vaccines for patients with cancer or HIV/AIDS in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Perform cellular immunology assays including multicolor flow cytometry, intracellular cytokine staining, production of MHC-pepitde tetramers, lymphocyte proliferation, elispot and chromium release assays.
Manage laboratory inventory, establish preventitive maintenance schedule for equipment, oversee ogranization of computerized records system and paper records, write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and test reagents for potency and stability.
Perform pre-clinical research on new technologies that will be transitioned into the cGMP lab.
Evaluate and recommend new techniques and technologies
Maintain quality checks on safety of laboratories, including biohazards and insure maintenance of the facilities according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and perform within all SOPs and policies as it pertains to duties and responsibilities.
Performs other duties as required.
BS degree in Biology or related area,
strong written and verbal communication skills and willingness to work with viral vectors and HIV-infected cells is required.
Candidates with a minimum of two years professional experience, particularly experience in cGMP, cellular immunology, flow cytometry, and blood/hematopoietic progenitor cell banking are preferred.
Candidates with a minimum of three years of supervisory and/or management experience. Experience in molecular biology, writing procedures, training laboratory personnel and interacting with physicians and nurses, and clinical lab certifications is also a plus.
