An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kristina Simonyan in the Department of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. The research emphasis of the laboratory is on understanding the pathophysiology of dystonia, a neurological condition characterized by involuntary muscle spasms in different body parts. The specific projects involve the use of multi-modal neuroimaging (high-resolution MRI, probabilistic tractography, brain network analysis) to investigate the pathophysiological signatures of laryngeal dystonia and the central mechanisms of treatment response with the novel oral medication. The postdoctoral fellow will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of neuroscientists, geneticists and clinicians.
Qualified candidates must have PhD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience or other relevant areas of biomedical research. Knowledge of image processing using computational (e.g., Linux, MATLAB) and statistical (e.g., AFNI, FSL, SPM) methods is required. The candidate should be independent, self-motivated, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and related publication records.
