Requisition Number: PD14-1625118
A post-doctoral scientist position is available for translational research in hematological malignancies in the Tisch Cancer Institute at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, a leading center for biomedical research in the US. Next-generation sequencing has become an important tool in assessing the transcriptomic and epigenomic changes in cancer cells. A strong background in molecular biology is necessary to interpret sequencing data in the context of the malignancies being studied. The goal of the lab is to gain an integrative systems-wide understanding of the dysregulation of the mammalian epigenome and transcriptome in human cancer model systems, specifically lymphoma and myeloma. The projects require the genome-wide analysis of datasets from human disease specimens. The results from our projects will significantly promote our understanding of the pathogenesis, drug resistance, biomarkers of response and novel therapeutics for these cancers. Responsibilities: The candidate will utilize computational methodologies/pipelines to perform systematic and integrative analysis of epigenomic and transcriptomic data including RNA-seq, WES, RRBS and ChIP-seq and correlate with clinical data. Functional validation of results using standard molecular biology techniques will be performed in vitro and in-vivo using cell lines, primary samples and murine models. Requirements: The qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, computational biology or a related field. He or she should have a strong background in computational biology with expertise in R, Python or PERL and SQL and basic knowledge of multiple myeloma biology. Experience in standard biology techniques (cell culture, western blotting, PCR, flow-cytometry), mouse models (including xenotransplantation) would be an added benefit.
The candidate should also have excellent communication skills and a passion to work within a highly collaborative environment. Candidates with at least two major publications in internationally recognized journals are highly encouraged to apply.
