The Division of Psychiatric Genomics in the Department of Psychiatry is a multi-disciplinary research division at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The Division is focused on deciphering the genetic causes of debilitating psychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia, autism and bipolar disorder with the end goal of developing novel treatments for these disorders. We actively collaborate with members of the research community at Mt. Sinai, including the Icahn Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology, the Friedman Brain Institute, the Departments of Psychiatry, Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Neuroscience, and others, as well as with various institutions and consortia throughout the U.S. and the world.
As part of this dynamic group the candidate will interact with the PI to determine and execute a data analysis plan for studies involving genome wide SNPs, copy number variation, or next generation sequencing. The candidate will use his/her experience in biostatistical analyses to analyze genetic data derived from multiple internal and external studies. We seek a highly motivated and dedicated M.D. or Ph.D. in genetics, bioinformatics or statistical genetics with excellent quantitative skills, proven ability to work well in a collaborative environment, The successful applicant will have strong training in statistics or biostatistics, data mining, and genetic analysis.

Ph.D Genetics, Biology, Computer Science or related topic or discipline
2 years in research environment
Advanced experience sought in one or more of the following areas:
-broad range of statistical genetics and bioinformatics software
-Unix-like operating systems
-use of high-performance computer clusters
-scripting and shell utilities (e.g., perl, awk, sed)
-statistical packages (e.g., R, Stata, etc.)
-programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, etc.)
-database and website programming and development
Strong communication and writing skills.
Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
