The position is in a laboratory studying host and viral factors affecting the transmission of human influenza viruses. Research projects will focus on the impact of host physiology, immunology, and other factors on viral transmissibility. The Mount Sinai School of Medicine is an NIAID Center of Excellence in Influenza Research and Surveillance, conducting novel collaborative research into influenza virus pathogenesis, host restriction, transmission, evolution and host adaptation, evasion of immunity, and induction of host responses.
Preferred candidates will have: 1) basic research experience in influenza virology and/or models of human respiratory disease; 2) clinical degree (M.D. or D.V.M., with or without Ph.D). However, all qualified applicants with a doctoral degree and research experience in areas such as Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Medicine, Immunology, or Virology are encouraged to apply.
