Department: 822 - Preventive Medicine
Requisition Number: PD14-1671760
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City is seeking a laboratory-based postdoctoral position in molecular epidemiology specializing in elucidating complex links among environment, genome/epigenome, and human diseases including cancer. Specifically, we seek a motivated individual with solid training in basic science as well as in epidemiology with the ability to carry out quantitative analysis of large data sets with complex variables including demographics, lifestyle, environments, and biological measurements.
Description of Duties: Conduct research that advances our understanding of the complex links between environment, genome/epigenome and human diseases. Design and perform molecular experiments to analyze genetic and epigenetic markers in epidemiologic studies. Analyze complicated data from large population studies that include demographic, lifestyle, diet, genetic and epigenetic data. Provide technical and statistical assistance for developing new research projects. Mentor graduate students, fellows and other junior laboratory personnel.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in biological science but with strong interest in applying the basic science in population studies. We prefer candidates who have additional training in epidemiology and statistics. Of particular interest are analytical skills that will complement biostatistical approaches to the epidemiology studies related to environmental exposures and genetic/epigenetic determinants of health outcome.
