Medical Librarian Administrative Coordinator

Job Description:


Maintain current library holdings in FRC; identify and recommend new print and online resources and assist in acquisition as required

Interact on patient care units to meet families, identify learning needs and create a plan for the provision of library services.

Plan and implement special events in FRC targeted to caregivers, including regular support programming in the evening.

Write/edit articles for Child Life and other newsletters; edit E-Meeting content; coordinate production of Child Life Times

Collect and submit monthly statistics on library usage

Participate in hospital committees (patient education, pediatric bereavement, family centered care, pain); serve as informal liaison with Levy Library

Help families use the technology in the FRC, troubleshooting simple problems, helping them to maintain contact with loved ones via e-mail and CaringBridge and learn to find high-quality information

Handle administrative details of Cap4Kids website, researching organizations to include, editing descriptions, changing graphic for featured site

Coordinate Project DOCC: schedule resident home visits, interviews, debriefing; arrange for training; schedule meetings of committee; brief new pediatric residents on program annually.

Participate in monthly staff, biweekly supervision, individual supervision, leadership huddles, and other meetings

Obtain literature and other resources for child life and other hospital staff

Oversee physical environment of FRC, including office supplies, coffee/refreshments, and overall maintenance

Participate in Zone special events, visits, and tours

Assist with Zone patient group management as requested by department leadership, including shifting schedule when needed.

For hospital staff and interns, conduct bibliographic instruction and educational sessions relative to library science.

Cover for Sherry/Lu in entering payroll for weekly staff and print/post weekly Zone reservation schedule

Assist Director and supervisor to cultivate philanthropy relative to FRC position funding
