Laboratory Technologist I

The Tumor Cytogenetics laboratory at Mount Sinai tests annually over 2000 specimens and performs over 5,500 tests from patients with hematological malignancies (leukemia), myeloproliferative disorders, lymphoma, breast cancer, bladder cancer, and other solid tumors.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conventional cytogenetics duties include setting up sterile tissue cultures, harvesting cultures, making and banding slides and performing chromosome analysis and karyotyping using Applied Imaging System. Molecular cytogenetics, FISH, responsibilities includes harvesting of clinical specimens, pre-treatment of paraphin-embedded solid tumor tissues, setting up DNA hybridization, post-hybridization procedures, scoring, imaging and interpretation of hybridization signals in both in interphase and metaphase cells.
BS Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
