Job Description:

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following organizational competencies, including:

Conducting investigations on employee relations issues for various levels of personnel in the School, ie. Faculty, Residents, staff, post doctoral fellows; etc.

Collaborating with other areas of Human Resources and the Dean's office to ensure consistent application and interpretation of various school policies and employment laws and regulations such as FMLA, ADA and EEOC.

Educating, coaching and conducting employee relations training programs for supervisors and non-bargaining unit employees.

Participating in downsizing and/or layoff processes such as assisting with selection process, counseling of affected employees, creation of termination packages and procedural interpretation.

Monitoring implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions to ensure compliance with Fair Market Value and consistency across the institution.

Assisting Director with departmental restructuring, communication and interventions to ensure compliance with institutional initiatives and or standing policies.

Handling on-boarding processes for NBU positions for Faculty Recruits (i.e., high level recruits) - including but not limited to posting, sources, interviewing, extending offers, assisting with the coordination of on-boarding of post docs and Faculty; housing, etc.

Sourcing candidates for research positions in the Basic Science departments - including but not limited to making contacts with various institutions and other facilities in and out of the tri-state area to obtain the most qualified individuals for vacancies.

Tracking the status of vacant positions in the School and recruitment efforts

Meeting with Faculty and Administrators of School department to review their HR needs.

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
4-year college degree in HR, business or related area or equivalent work experience. Master's degree preferred.
6 plus years of progressive HR generalist/Employee relations experience. Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures relevant to Human Resources.
Must have a proven track record of relationship building with both internal and external customers.
Ability to handle investigations, employee conflicts and differences by interpreting verbal/ non-verbal behavior, detecting perceptions and needs of staff.
Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to understand business strategy and goals.
