The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for MSSM will provide a broad range of strategic HR services to senior leadership of the School and arriving Faculty and staff, across multiple business functions that include Talent Management, Compensation, Benefits, Finance, and Employee Relations. In this environment, the HRBP will act as an extended staff member and close advisor to senior executives, developing strategic talent and workforce plans, advising on organization development needs and proactively addressing all human capital concerns including relocating and on-boarding strategies.
To be successful the HRBP will need the gravitas to establish immediate credibility and adeptly engage senior executives in addressing their human capital business concerns. Taking a highly consultative approach and speaking from a deep knowledge base, the HR Business Partner will bring fresh perspective, new insights and a sense of partnership to the relationship s/he will build with the School's senior leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
(in order of importance and/or frequency)
Manages on-boarding processes for NBU positions for Faculty Recruits (i.e., high level recruits) - including but not limited to posting, sources, interviewing, extending offers, assisting with the coordination of on-boarding of post docs and Faculty; housing, etc.
Develop and maintain a network of contacts to help identify candidates for research positions in the Clinical and Basic Science departments - including but not limited to making contacts with various institutions and other facilities in and out of the tri-state area to obtain the most qualified individuals for vacancies.
Confer with senior leadership throughout the School of Medicine to identify personnel needs, workforce planning strategies, and search assignments. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior leadership, and other team members to create a solid partnership.
Tracks the status of vacant positions in the School and recruitment efforts to identify efforts that prove to be successful in the sourcing and selecting the right candidate for the right position.
Reviews the hiring manager's interview performance with each candidate and take appropriate action when warranted. Performs detailed reference checking and/or reference analysis on selected candidates and reviews results with hiring managers.
Manages the presentation, selection, offer, negotiation, closing, and administrative components involved in full lifecycle recruiting. Conducts follow-up calls and quality-improvement studies with hiring managers and new hires.

Performs other related duties
(HS/GED; specialized training; degree and discipline)
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and related experience. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Related Experience
(e.g. 1 year in research environment)
6 plus years of progressive HR generalist experience. Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures relevant to Human Resources.
Must have a proven track record of relationship building with both internal and external customers.
Must have experience with recruitment and sourcing candidates as well as compensation knowledge, experience with job analysis, general compensation practices and salary structure design. Ability to handle employee conflicts and differences by interpreting verbal/ non-verbal behavior, detecting perceptions and needs of staff.
Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to understand business strategy and goals.
Demonstrated HR knowledge and experience in a technology organization strongly preferred.
Ability to move about on campus and offsite buildings, may include travel.
