Finance Analyst II
The Financial Analyst II will provide the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology with accounts receivable/accounts payable support for a high volume and complex portfolio of clinical research contracts. Will process cross-organizational and cross-functional AR, AP and cash control mechanisms. The position will also contribute to process improvement initiatives and provide coverage/back up for the 13 disease focused clinical research teams in the Division.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assists in reviewing monthly budget, fund and or/general ledgers for the department or business unit within the School or Hospital, including clinical trials and grants if applicable. Provide fluctuation analysis.
* Communicates with accounting staff to obtain variance explanations, to alert them to wire transfers and to ensure that revenue and expenses are captured properly.
* Assists with the regular preparation of reports, invoices and follow-up discussions with department administrators over actual variances from approved budgets.
* Prepare and submit purchase orders, contracts, invoices, check requests, petty cash vouchers, travel requests and travel vouchers, fund transfers as necessary.
Requires a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with two years directly related progressive experience beyond a Bachelor's degree.
5 - 7 years of financial experience in academic medicine desired.
Financial experience in a highly complex, matrix department/institute in academic medicine highly desired.
Expert knowledge of excel and solid knowledge of databases and systems used to manage financial and other data.
Demonstrated mathematical and analytical expertise through work experience, deliverables, and/or successful course work required.
Attention to detail, excellent and effective communication skills required.
