The Director, (Satellite) Practice Operations oversees and manages the daily operations of offsite practices and develops additional practice sites. The Director participates in business development strategy for Mount Sinai, developing new business plans, assures compliance in all areas of responsibility, and manages both administrative and clinical non-physician staff.
Optimizes site selection for additional practice development. Responsible for analyzing demographics and demand for best practice site.
Develops and maintains all budgets.
Assures compliance in all areas of responsibilities.
Responsible for system selection (Telephone, Computers, etc.) as well as successful implementation of these systems. Develops strategy for satellite operations and growth strategies.
Manages administrative and non-physician clinical staff of all practice sites. Responsible for on-going performance planning and appraisal of subordinate staff. Responsible for hiring and firing.
Manages communication with all Mount Sinai Departments, included, but not limited to billing, compliance, credentialing, procedural units, etc.
Maximizes physician productivity: analyzes physician reports to enhance productivity.
Gathers, analyzes and reports on operating data of practices, evaluates utilization, call patterns, scheduling and practice physician practice patterns.
Serves as the senior administrator for the practice and MSH. Ensures all practice issues are resolved. Develops/implements programs to ensure patient satisfaction. Recommends process improvements.
Responsible for practice revenue enhancement. Designs and implements studies to determine areas for improvement.
Works in conjunction with physicians, nurse practitioners and department administrators in the development of clinical programs. Investigates all patient inquiries and complaints and writes appropriate response.
Coordinates insurance carrier audit responses, working with billing, Medical Records and Patient Accounts Departments.
Reviews patient medical records to determine physician compliance with chart documentation for billing if requested. Identifies weaknesses and prepares reports summarizing findings. Designs and implements study to determine areas for improvement.
Analyzes billing reports regarding average charges, reimbursement rates, etc. for use in negotiations with HMOs/PPOs, etc.
Reviews account information with collection agents and makes recommendations on how to proceed with input from physician staff.
Evaluates physician enrollment and re-credentialing for all insurance carriers (i.e., Medicare, Medicaid, and Workman's Compensation, managed care companies) and works with appropriate staff to maintain up to date enrollments, recommends appropriateness of enrollments.
Continuously assess the operational functioning of the practices. Completes monthly practice reporting. Assist or complete business plans for new billing opportunities, work with concerned physicians & administrative staff to implement new practice opportunities.
Responsible for reviewing purchases and negotiating service contracts and equipment purchases and maintenance agreements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Masters degree in health administration, business administration, or related discipline or equivalent experience
Ten years of progressive experience with physician practice management, preferably with emphasis on cardiovascular services
