Queens Hospital Center (QHC), affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Psychologist to join its Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.
QHC serves a multi-cultural population of adults, children and families. The Behavioral Health Program provides a full continuum of care including services in Ambulatory Adult and Child Mental Health programs, on-site school programs, Adult Partial Hospital Program, Chemical Dependency Program, Inpatient Units, Psychiatric Emergency Room, Mobile Crisis Unit, ACT teams and consultative services in other areas of the hospital center. The department collaborates with numerous schools in providing training programs in the areas of psychology, nursing and medicine.
The Clinical Psychologist will be an integral team member who will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students. The primary role of the clinician will be to engage serious and persistently mentally ill patients who are at risk for a hospitalization. Extensive groupwork experience is essential as well as the ability to develop creative programming to address the needs of our patient population. Knowledge of empirically validated treatment approaches is preferred.

-Job requires completion of doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D. or certificate of Respecialization) from an accredited university program in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or School-Clinical Child Psychology.
-Job requires two to five years of progressively more responsible experience as an actively practicing psychologist. Related therapist experience should have been in large-scale healthcare organization in order to gain competitive clinical skills and knowledge of evidence base therapy
methods, familiarity with supervisory issues and demonstrated facility for effective interaction across disciplines in a multi-cultural setting.
-Interpersonal skills at substantial level to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary health professionals, patients, patients' families, external agencies. Maintains effective contacts with external educational institutions. Incumbent must demonstrate effective skills when dealing with full continuum of patient pathology.
-Completion of doctoral program, one-year clinical internship and post-doctoral supervised hours
-Must be licensed and currently registered as a psychologist by NYS Education Department.
-General intermediate word processing skills
-Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)
