Under general supervision of a Radiologist and MRI supervisor performs MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols. Technologist must exercise independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the technical performance of imaging procedures.
The technologist reports to: Technical Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs MRI exams, utilizing established protocols.
Captures and transfers images to PACS stations.
Complies with MRI safety procedures.
Prior to performing MRI, reviews MRI safety questionnaire with patient and signs form if patient can safely enter the magnetic field.
Evaluates images prior to the release of patients to ensure study is diagnostic.
Participates in the performance and documentation of quality control, assurance, and improvement activities.
Informs appropriate personnel of any equipment failure and documents type of problem and any associated down time.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area and equipment to comply with established infection control and departmental standards.
Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedure.
Ensures the safety and comfort of patients, family members and other employees.
Communicates effectively with patients, other employees and the public.
Displays personal attributes of compassion competence and concern in meeting the needs of the patient.
Perform other duties as required.
Graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology.(A.R.R.T)
2-5 years experience as a MRI technician
1. New York state License in Diagnostic Radiology
2. MRI certified required
