Systems Analyst II

This position will report to the LIS Director and will work alongside Atlas Medical to integrate the disparate LIS Systems (Sunquest and SCC Soft) within various Mount Sinai locations. The candidate will route all orders and results within the Labworks system to provide practitioners a patient centric view of all laboratory results. This person will serve as the liaison between the sponsor organization, Mt. Sinai Center for Clinical Labs, and the stakeholders at different sites. The Laboratory Integration Analyst assists in project tasks as part of clinical implementation, including: interface development, data conversion, building system components, testing and documentation of interface specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Responsible for interface development (specifications and data flow), data conversion, testing and documentation of interface specifications.
2.Analyzes HL7 format and content and modifies as necessary
3.Creates and executes test plans and tracks issues discovered throughout all phases of implementation
4.Collects workflow and other relevant information from client sites
5.Troubleshoots and resolves integration/mapping issues
6.Communicates and assesses needs of various levels of users including nurses, physicians, non-clinical and affiliated staff
7.Manages and maintains the data necessary to ensure compliance with various government agencies (HIPAA, ARRA, ISO, the New York State Department of Health, the College of American Pathologists and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and CMS.
8.Works closely with laboratory automation and IT personnel to implement, test and monitor new workflows
9.Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.
10.Perform tasks as assigned by the LIS Director.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Five years of experience in systems analysis and application program development.
Requires a broad knowledge of the client area's functions and systems, and application program development technological alternatives.
Requires experience with state of the art application development support software packages, proficiency in at least two higher level programming languages, some management capabilities, strong judgment and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.
