Network Support Analyst

The Network Support Analyst/LAN Administrator evaluates and analyzes the networking needs of the department, unit and/or division; ensures the availability of the systems to users; installs, configures and troubleshoots local area networks and maintains the functionality of all components and applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures the availability of the network to all internal and external users. Monitors the network to ensure maximum user availability and system performance.
Performs systems configuration/reconfiguration as needed to optimize network functioning.
Develops methods to enhance security and to minimize network attacks. Implements system policies to govern workstation and user capabilities and rights and to enforce security procedures.
Monitors, verifies and maintains scheduled backups of all systems and data to ensure protection from malicious or inadvertent damage and/or destruction. Ensures the availability to recover all data in a timely manner in the event of a system failure.
Assists in the design and management of the organization's contingency plan, business recovery and disaster recovery plans. Reviews, tests and helps to maintain The Mount Sinai Hospital / The Mount Sinai School of Medicine's disaster recovery.
Updates and plans for the update of software for operating systems. Maintains a record of all installed software and current versions.
Supports, troubleshoots and repairs servers, network-attached storage and other devices.
Maintains network diagrams and documentation for all servers and network components; maintains license information for all servers and workstations; and maintains the network configuration and/or procedure manual.
Performs other related duties.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Cisco Certifications (CCNA and CCNP preferred)
4+ years' experience in the role of network network engineer for large enterprise network with 5,000+ users
Strong understanding of IP networks, routing, switching, subnetting
Solid foundation with Cisco routing (BGP, EIGRP)
Perform packet capture analysis and troubleshooting
Packet capture and analysis
Be able to lift 75lbs boxes for equipment tracking
Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining the following hardware:
-Cisco Catalyst 6500 Sup 720, Sup 2T
-Cisco 4500 Sup II+, Sup IV, Sup V, Sup 6L, Sup 6E, Sup 7L, Sup 7E
-Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, 2000
-Cisco ASA 5510, 5520, 5550, 5585
-Cisco 2960, 3560, 3750
-Configure site-to-site IPsec VPN using Cisco routers and ASA Firewalls
