PER DIEM SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Full/Part Time: Per Diem

The Speech/Language Pathologist plans, conducts, and evaluates the treatment program for individuals with disorders of the comprehension and production of speech and language, as set forth by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. Under the direction of the attending physician, the Speech/Language Pathologist provides assessment and treatment of cognitive and swallowing disorders.
Evaluate patient's speech and language abilities, both deficits and assess and evaluates the patient's level of function.
Plan and provide rehabilitation services for speech and language disorders.
Assist in developing and updating the plan of treatment.
Provide assessment and treatment of cognitive and swallowing disorders.
Provide Modified Barium Swallow Study when indicated by physiatrist.
To observe, report and record type of treatment and patient's response to treatment.
Report progress and/or regression to physician and/or department's supervisor.
Submit to physician and/or department's supervisor written reports of the patient's progress.
Select and administer diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials for patient evaluation and treatment purposes.
Recommend augmentative communication devices/aides as needed such as gesture system, communication boards, electrical automated devices and mechanical devices for the patient.
Complete timely clinical documentation to include functional goal-setting, progress and therapeutic approach.
Keep patient significant others freely informed of and involved with patient plan of care.
Act as liaison with nursing, medical staff and therapist, to facilitate problem solving and coordination of services and acts as educational resource.
Education & Licensure: Must be a graduate of an accredited Speech/Language Pathology Program with current New York State License (certification).
Masters in Science (Degree) Clinical Speech Pathology.
Must have CCC and MBS experience
FEES, trach and foreign language experience helpful
