Surgical Scheduling Coordinator I
Full/Part Time: Full Time

Uses IDX to schedule initial patient visit, completing a full registration on new patients.
Uses familiarity with the physicians in the Department to schedule patient appointment with appropriate physician.
Uses IDX to complete a thorough registration on all new patients
Verifies insurance information on new and follow-up patients and makes corrections / updates information in IDX
In put all demographic/insurance info into IDX. Cerner, McKesson and IDX.
Schedule surgical procedures in the mode desired by each physician in McKesson adhering to physicians Block OR time schedule.
Scheduling surgical procedures require attention to detail for correct procedure, side, equipment, admission type, anesthesia type, etc.
Make sure the correct demographic and insurance information is inputted in IDX, Cerner & McKesson.
Verify patient insurance for surgical benefits, obtaining deductible, out of network benefits, etc.
Obtain pre-certifications for surgical procedures. If clinical information required complete necessary paperwork and forward chart back to the physician's administrative assistant.
Once pre-certifications for surgical procedures are obtained, put authorization number in Cerner & IDX.
Complete Surgery Pre-authorization & insurance verification forms.
Forward Out-of-Network and/or need negotiations surgical procedures once booked, to the Billing Manager.
Return completed surgical authorization to the physician administrative assistant.
Works independently while maintaining confidentiality.
Cover practice phones, as needed.
Perform other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience High School Diploma and/or graduate of an approved secretarial program. Medical secretarial / medical office / billing experience necessary with a minimum of three to five years of prior related experience in a busy practice setting, preferably a surgical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Computer literate, IDX training required. Works independently while maintaining confidentiality. Highly organized with attention to detail. Able to prioritize the needs of the office and anticipate the next step to complete a task. Excellent phone manners and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff
