Lead Medical Clerical Associate

Responsible for disseminating information to employees in their firm or area. Acts as a resource and support to the Manager in problem solving. Communicates issues of concern for the firm or area to the Manager. Obtains and records vital signs. Collects and processes blood, urine, sputum and stool specimens. Reports changes in patient parameters or unusual values to the Registered Professional Nurse or Physician. Provides assistance with procedures such as stocking exam rooms with appropriate supplies. Assists in the collection of screening data, i.e., personal data, chief complaints, family and social history. Collects specimens for selected tests the assist with diagnosis treatment: urine pregnancy test, throat cultures, and hemocult, etc. Participates with follow-up of abnormal lab data as directed by the Registered Professional Nurse or physician. Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control, including the use of protective gear. Assists with procurement of equipment and supplies,and monitors inventory needs. Orients patients to ambulatory clinic policies and procedures. Handles all information in accordance with patient confidentiality regulations. Treats patients with empathy and impartiality. Is open and responsive to the diverse backgrounds and experience of other people and promotes an environment that is sensitive to cultural diversity. Gives verbal reports to designated RNs and/or MDs, and reports all problems. Maintains competence in various task, skills, concepts and functions, and attends JCADO and all mandatory and pertinent inservice and educational programs. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and practices. Participates in actively in unit based interdisciplinary meetings, projects and programs. Assists with the preparation and maintenance of medical records. Participates in the continuous quality improvement activities of the unit. Locates resources and information for patients and family.
