Research
At Mount Sinai, research and treatment have always gone hand in hand and our discoveries have been helping patients for decades. In fact, many of the latest diagnostic tools and treatments routinely used today have either been developed or were first introduced by Mount Sinai endocrinologists. For example, some of the earliest work on adrenal gland disease was conducted at Mount Sinai by Louis Soffer, MD, in the 1940s. Dr. Soffer was a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of Addison’s disease and Cushing’s disease. In 1946, he published a monograph titled, “Diseases of the Adrenals,” which became a valuable reference text for clinicians.
