This is not how cancer works, Dr. Port writes in her recent book, The New Generation Breast Cancer Book. “Make decisions in a place of power, not desperation,” she writes. She says a patient’s first step should be formulating a plan. “Choose your surgeon, find a top medical center; get a second opinion and build a support network.”
