Patients with inflammatory bowel disease experience better care and quality of life from home-based remote monitoring compared with those regularly using education apps, according to a study conducted at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The randomized controlled study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of HealthPROMISE. Ashish Atreja, MD, MPH, assistant professor, medicine, gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and director Sinai AppLab, chief technology innovation and engagement officer at The Mount Sinai Hospital, led the research team and said HealthPROMISE enabled care teams to document patients' self-reported quality of life in real time and use the information to provide better care.
