Staten Island Advance - "Editorial: A Promising Partnership"

 – June 5, 2012 /Press Release/  ––

Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC), financially embattled in the not-too-distant past, has formed a promising new partnership with The Mount Sinai Hospital. It’s a sure sign of how far the institution has come. For its part, Mount Sinai will benefit by expanding care to Staten Islanders who otherwise might not have sought treatment by its medical specialists. One important goal of the collaboration is for RUMC to improve cardiac care following its decision to opt out last year from the Heart Institute, a decade-old joint venture with Staten Island University Hospital. "You can’t be a great hospital, or even a good hospital, without having a strong cardiac program," said Dr. Kenneth Davis, the president and chief executive officer of Mount Sinai. "The good news for RUMC and our opportunity together is that Mount Sinai’s heart program is one of the best heart programs in the world." Learn more
